Detour Completed; Next Pit Stop Acquired

The part was right, the fix is good. The detour was successfully completed. We arrived our next pit stop in Congress, AZ where our travelers managed to log two azroadie letterboxes doable in the remaining afternoon time. One only had about 3 finds on it since its plant date in 2006. Today was HOT but is supposed to increasingly cooler each day starting tomorrow. We took plenty of water. Misty has learned to drink while I squeeze the tube on my camel pak so that saves weight of an additional water source while on our hikes. While boxing, spied out two ideas for boxes so I better get carving if they are going to get planted before we head further west. A little research is required first.

We are dry camping to save $$. Hopefully we can ration electricity enough that all will work out. It seemed the batteries didn't charge as much today as they normally charge. Not sure if that is cuz we were moving or cuz of position our to the sun where we are parked. Going on the roof tomorrow to see if tilting the panels will help. They would need to tilt endwise instead of crosswise because south is at our windshield. Included in our daily dry camping fee is one free dump at the dump station on the way out and we can refill our fresh water tank. This is good. I thought we'd have to either pay for the services a la carte or move into a regular site. More important, so far fuel prices are less than 1/2 of what they were last year.

I know... boring, mundane, housekeeping affairs. Taking care of the small things help allow the big things to happen.

  2. Sounds like Miss T will be big enough soon for a back pack of her own so she can carry her own water and a treat.

    Take care - D

  3. Miss T probably is big enough now. I made some sort of mental decision to wait until she is 6 months old, which will be this week. They make a camel pak for dogs, I'll have to price those out and watch for a special. Or, maybe her birth parents will buy her one for her birthday????
